The New Yorker states that “the departure ceremony, according to one of the hundred or so guests who attended, and who asked that I not use his name, took place at Kojima Productions.”
This departure was described as “a rather cheerful, but emotional goodbye,” according to The New Yorker’s source.
This news comes as no surprise, as reports and evidence of Hideo Kojima and Konami having a falling out have been quite evident over the several months leading up to the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Kojima Productions was shut down this past July and Kojima’s name was removed from Metal Gear Solid V’s box art.
Kojima, creator of the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid series, will likely continue to develop video games. Whether he creates his own studio or heads up an already existing one, we will be sure to update you as soon as we know what Hideo Kojima plans to do in the future.
